What Delhi Shoppers Need to Know About Rising Retail Activity

Retail leasing in Delhi-NCR rose 25 percent in the first half of 2025 and reached roughly 5 lakh square feet. Fashion brands accounted for 35 percent of that space and homeware brands took 30 percent. The increase follows three years without any new Grade-A mall supply after the first quarter of 2023.

Shoppers in the capital region will see the effects in malls they already visit. Pacific Mall in West Delhi now houses the first IKEA city store in the area. Select CityWalk in Saket added the first Asian location of the U.S. brand ATHLETIFREAK. Italian retailer OVS opened its first Indian flagship store at Pacific Mall in Tagore Garden last October. More than 30 global retailers have chosen Delhi as their entry point into India over the past three years.

New supply arriving later this year

UnityOne Elegante, a 0.5 million square foot Grade-A mall, is scheduled to open in the second half of 2025. The addition marks the first such project after the long gap that began in early 2023. High-street leasing rose 57 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2025, giving residents more street-level options alongside the larger centres.

Footfall patterns and practical implications

Mall footfall in Delhi-NCR has already exceeded pre-COVID levels on weekends and during festive periods. The combination of renewed supply and higher leasing means residents can expect wider selections of clothing, furniture and household goods in neighbourhoods such as Saket, Tagore Garden and West Delhi without needing to travel farther. Shoppers should check individual mall websites for opening dates of the new stores and any extended hours during upcoming festivals.
